India Post and India Post Payments have launched DakPay, a simplified payment solution, which would enable their customers to operate their banking services.

 The app was unveiled by Communications and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad yesterday.

DakPay will offer access to the banking and payments products and services either through an app or in assisted mode with the help of a Postman.

India Post and IPPB will provide digital financial and assisted banking services through the country’s postal network.

The app will help customers to send money through Domestic Money Transfers and also give interoperable banking services with any bank in the country.

It will allow customers to scan QR codes and make payments for merchants digitally through UPI or virtual debit cards and help check their bank balances and withdraw cash.

DakPay will allow customers to deposit cash using the Aadhaar-enabled payment system and automate recurring payments within it.

The government is planning to help customers avail of credit facilities from the app by adding new features.

Since the launch of the India Post Payments in September 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with an aim of providing a complete suite of banking services, the bank has enabled more than 1.36 lakh post offices, out of which some 1.13 lakh are located in rural areas.
