Amazon Starts Making Fire TV Sticks in India as Big Initiative for Atmanirbhar Bharat

Chennai, NFAPost: Gearing up for the festive season, Amazon India has announced the launch of a specialised Fulfilment Centre (FC) in Tamil Nadu, along with the expansion of an existing FC.

The new specialised FC will offer close to 7 lakh cubic feet of storage space, housing lakhs of products in the large appliance and furniture category. With this infrastructure expansion, Amazon.in will now offer storage capacity of close to 3 Million cubic feet across 5 fulfilment centres to its more than 43,000 sellers in Tamil Nadu. The expansion will contribute to the economic growth in the State while creating thousands of work opportunities for locals.

“Tamil Nadu is an important market for us and we are delighted to further invest and expand our infrastructure in the State. This expansion will work as an enabler for SMBs in Tamil Nadu helping them with faster delivery of their products to a wider customer base,” said Amazon India Director – Amazon Transportation Services Abhinav Singh.

“This festive season, health and safety of our associates and customers is of utmost priority while we work hard to deliver a delight shopping experience,” he added.

Tamil Nadu Government Principal Secretary Industries N Muruganandam said, “Tamil Nadu provides the best infrastructure and eco-system for industries and service sector. Hon’ble Chief Minister has given clear instructions to all government agencies to provide facilitation and support to all industrial and commercial establishments. We are happy to note that Amazon’s investment in Tamil Nadu will generate significant employment opportunities.”

He added, “I am certain these Fulfillment Centres will push the agenda of Tamil Nadu’s economic growth forward. We are pleased to see Amazon enabling MSMEs of Tamil Nadu and fostering scalable growth opportunities for sellers”. 

The expansion in Tamil Nadu is a part of Amazon India’s recently announced plans to add 10 new Fulfilment Centres and expand 7 existing sites across India. It is also a part of Amazon’s continued focus on making ecommerce seamlessly accessible to every consumer and to help optimise the day-to-day operations for Amazon’s sellers.

Amazon India places tremendous value and focus on the well-being and safety of its people across its operations network and its customers. Amazon India will continue to work closely with the health officials and in line with Amazon’s global standards has already implemented close to 100 changes in its operational processes, including social distancing and daily temperature checks on entry and exit at the work site for the health and safety of its people.
